Richard B. Wise, M.D.

Richard B. Wise, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist. He was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He earned his medical degree at the University of Toronto where he graduated with honors standing. He then completed his ophthalmology training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia where he was chief resident. Due to a strong interest in eye diseases as it relates to children, Dr. Wise elected to further sub-specialize in pediatric ophthalmology by completing a fellowship at the Children’s Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Wise has particular interests in the management of strabismus (misalignment of the eyes), blocked tear ducts, and the correction of blurred vision in children. Dr. Wise specializes in surgery on children’s eyes and is the only pediatric ophthalmologist who practices in Atlantic County. He is on staff at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as an affiliate staff.

Dr. Wise is also a board-certified adult ophthalmologist and sees patients of all ages and medical problems. He particularly has a lot of interest in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. He also manages cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and eye traumas.
